Profit or Purpose: What Increases Medical Doctors’ Job Satisfaction?

This study integrates two competing views to examine whether medical doctors are satisfied with their jobs when they perceive hospitals as being oriented toward profit (a hedonic view) or purpose eudaimonic view). Using a sample of 127 from 70 hospitals, this tests these views. The results show that who purpose-driven likely experience job satisfaction, and pattern still holds even if also emphasizing profits.
